According to the latest draft released in May 2025 by the Ministry of Environment and Urban Affairs of India, the Indian government is planning to implement new nationwide VOC restriction regulations for architectural coatings:
“All new residential, commercial, and public building projects must adopt low-VOC eco-friendly materials that comply with IS 15489 or LEED standards.”
This regulation is set to take effect in 2026, signaling the beginning of a policy-driven boom in India’s green building market.
